‘Oil and gas 4 U’ strongly believes in the importance of personal and professional development. There is a wide range of oil and gas training available, ranging from short flexible courses through to full time academic education. POL

 

Petroleum Open Learning (POL) provides the upstream oil and gas Industry with a flexible self-learning Level 3 City and Guilds qualification which enhances technical knowledge and aids the improvement of skills and performance in the workplace.

 

POL consists of a wide range of stand-alone modules from two different series, Oil and Gas Well Technology; and Petroleum Processing Technology, which enable an individual to tailor their own development. POL has many benefits, including:

 

  • An Industry recognised qualification
  • Each module may be assessed by examination with successful candidates receiving a City and Guilds of London Institute certificate
  • Used by individuals and employers in over 15 countries
  • Modules are continually revised by industry experts
  • Each candidate has the flexibility for setting their own pace for self development, accommodating a work/life balance

Upstream Modern Apprenticeships (MA) Scheme

 

The Upstream Oil and Gas Industry Technician Training programme. This programme equips motivated candidates with the skills and knowledge to work offshore and onshore in four varied disciplines: Instrument and Control Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance and Process Operation. The skills that these roles embody are highly regarded and valued worldwide and are therefore very ‘marketable’, meaning you will be part of an industry across the world.

Joined the OPITO apprentice scheme in 1999. Sinead knew nothing about the industry until she left college. She has since spent four years offshore, two as an apprentice and two as a senior operations technician. Sinead is currently training to be a HSE advisor with Shell UK. Sinead discusses the benefit of working offshore, including the time off and the opportunities to travel the world.

Subsea UK ‘Introduction to Subsea’ Training programme

 

Subsea UK has joined forces with Univation, the commercial training arm of The Robert Gordon University, to develop an eight-week e-learning course for qualified engineers from different backgrounds seeking to embark upon a career in subsea engineering.

 

The course is split into four modules: ‘Introduction to the Oil and Gas Industry’, ‘Introduction to Oil and Gas Engineering’, ‘Introduction the Subsea Industry’ and ‘Introduction to Subsea Engineering’. The Robert Gordon University (Energy Centre)

 

The RGU Energy Centre currently offers the following postgraduate courses (Postgraduate Certificate / Postgraduate Diploma / Masters of Science):

 

  • Asset Integrity Management – PgCert / PgDip / MSc:
  • Drilling and Well Engineering – PgCert / PgDip / MSc
  • Petroleum Production Engineering – PgCert / PgDip / MSc
  • Oil and Gas Engineering – PgCert / PgDip / MSc
  • Subsea Engineering – PgCert / PgDip / MSc  

 

These courses can be studied in the classroom, online or a mixture of both, offering you flexibility, with full-time and part-time options. The full-time course takes 1 year to complete and the part-time and online modules can be completed in 2-3 years.
